I grew up in Newark, NJ, in low-income housing. As a young boy, I would often hear and see planes taking off from Newark airport. In the moment, my curiosity would question, “Where are they going?” Anywhere was better than the “projects”.
I began my journey unsure of flying, but Microsoft Flight Simulator changed everything. What started as a uncertainty became a spark, then a passion, and ultimately a new direction in my life.
Before transitioning into aviation, I proudly served in the United States Army and spent 20 years in law enforcement. Throughout my career, I held a wide range of roles, from SWAT to community relations, each shaping the person I am today.
I am also a four-time Ironman Triathlon finisher—a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride, and a 26.2-mile run completed within 17 hours. The irony is that I didn’t learn to swim until I was 30 years old. The following year I completed my first Ironman. It was then I realized, impossible isn’t really impossible.
My life has taught me this: if your dreams don’t scare you, you’re probably not dreaming big enough.
