Description
Position Summary
The Captain Developmental Test Pilot serves as the project pilot for new and existing aircraft development programs, conducting developmental, engineering, experimental, and certification flight testing while supporting aircraft certification, technology development, flight operations, engineering, and entry-into-service activities.
Responsibilities
• Serve as the Flight Operations and Flight Test interface for new and existing aircraft development programs
• Develop and improve aircraft aircrew publications
• Pursue Gulfstream ODA AR Flight Test Pilot authorizations
• Serve in assistant staff or aircrew publication roles
• Conduct developmental, engineering, and experimental flight test missions
• Debrief engineering personnel and suppliers following flight tests
• Prepare and distribute Flight Test Reports
• Assist engineering teams with aircraft system design and redesign efforts
• Conduct engineering meetings supporting new and ongoing development programs
• Represent Gulfstream in certification meetings with the FAA and EASA
• Review and evaluate developmental and certification test plans
• Conduct flight tests in accordance with approved test plans
• Assist in completing certification test reports
• Expand flight test qualifications in low and medium risk flight test techniques
• Support transition from certification to Entry-Into-Service for new aircraft products
• Provide presentations, ground instruction, and flight instruction to company and customer flight crews
• Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a technically related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 10 years of progressively responsible experience in flight operations and flight test
• Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible management or supervisory experience in the aerospace industry
• Gulfstream Type Rating
• FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP/ATPL) Certificate or ability to obtain
• FAA Airplane Multi-Engine Land (AMEL) Certificate with appropriate Type Rating(s)
• Graduate of a recognized Test Pilot School or significant equivalent experimental flight test experience
• FAA First Class Medical Certificate
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
• FAA Flight Instructor Certificate (CFI)
