Captain Helicopter Pilot
Description
Position Summary
The Line Pilot serves as Pilot-in-Command for Bell 407 and Bell Medium helicopters supporting Exclusive Use (EU) and Call-When-Needed (CWN) federal wildfire contracts, utility operations, Human External Cargo (HEC) missions, and precision long-line operations. Reporting to the Chief Pilot, this position requires exceptional judgment, professionalism, and commitment to safety while operating throughout the United States, Canada, and other assigned locations.
Responsibilities
• Serve as Pilot-in-Command of Bell 407 and Bell Medium helicopters
• Conduct aerial firefighting and external load operations
• Operate fixed water tanks, hydraulic snorkels, external water buckets, and sling loads
• Maintain accurate flight, duty, maintenance, and operational records
• Monitor and maintain weight and balance data
• Manage aircraft fuel planning and fuel records
• Report maintenance discrepancies to the Director of Maintenance
• Operate aircraft in accordance with the Rotorcraft Flight Manual (RFM)
• Maintain aircraft cleanliness, security, and overall condition
• Comply with company GOM, SMS, SOPs, Employee Manual, and Operations Specifications
• Travel and work out of town as required
• Represent the company professionally with customers and government agencies
• Complete all required company training
• Maintain situational awareness in active landing zones
• Participate in the company Safety Management System (SMS)
• Promote safety during all flight operations
• Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
• FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate – Rotorcraft Helicopter
• Current FAA Class I or Class II Medical Certificate
• Current Driver’s License with a clean driving record
• Minimum 1,500 Rotorcraft PIC Hours
• Minimum 100 Hours in Bell 407, Bell 212, or similar aircraft
• Meet DOI/USFS pilot carding requirements
• Previously OAS carded in Bell Medium and/or Bell 206/407 series
• Prepared to travel throughout the operational region
• Must pass DOT drug testing
Preferred Qualifications
• Current OAS carding in Bell Medium and Bell 407 aircraft
• Vertical reference experience
• Wildland firefighting experience
• Utility helicopter experience
• Current Interagency Card
• Instrument Rating
• Additional Bell Medium and Bell 407 experience
• Low-level reconnaissance experience
• Mountain flying experience
• Helitack/passenger transport experience
• External load experience (<50′ belly hook)
• External load experience (>50′ long-line/VTR)
• Water bucket/retardant operations
• Powerline experience
• Willingness to relocate to Northern Idaho
