Description
Position Summary
The Survey Pilot is responsible for conducting aerial survey missions across the United States while operating and supporting company aircraft and survey equipment. This position includes flight operations, mission planning, aircraft maintenance coordination, data collection support, and extensive travel to project locations nationwide.
Responsibilities
• Safely operate fixed-wing aircraft during aerial survey missions, including LiDAR, photogrammetry, and multispectral imaging projects
• Adhere to FAA regulations and company safety procedures during all operations
• Collaborate with internal teams to plan flight routes, altitudes, and data collection parameters
• Analyze weather, terrain, and airspace restrictions to optimize mission success
• Operate onboard survey equipment including cameras, sensors, and GPS systems
• Perform initial data quality checks following survey missions
• Monitor routine and non-routine aircraft inspections, maintenance, and repairs
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues to minimize aircraft downtime
• Maintain aircraft maintenance records, flight records, receipts, invoices, and regulatory documentation
• Ensure compliance with FAA Part 91 requirements
• Participate in on-call rotations and extended deployments during peak survey seasons
• Travel frequently to remote project sites for flight operations, aircraft repositioning, and maintenance support
Requirements
• FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate (SEL)
• High Performance Endorsement
• Complex Endorsement
• FAA Second Class Medical Certificate
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Ability to coordinate and manage external teams and resources
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and remotely
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• U.S. Citizenship
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
• Survey or mission flying experience
• FAA A&P experience with Cessna T206 and other piston aircraft
• FAA Commercial Multi-Engine Certificate
• Aircraft ownership experience
