Position Summary

The Assistant Chief Flight Instructor (ACFI) supports the management, supervision, and standardization of Part 141 flight training operations. This role assists in overseeing instructors, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining high training standards within a collegiate aviation environment.


Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising flight instructors and training operations
• Ensure compliance with FAA-approved Training Course Outlines (TCOs)
• Support instructor standardization and training quality
• Conduct or assist with stage checks and evaluations
• Maintain accurate training and student records
• Support FAA audits, inspections, and compliance requirements
• Promote Safety Management System (SMS) practices
• Assist with instructor hiring, training, and scheduling
• Monitor student progress and coordinate remedial training
• Perform instructional duties as needed


Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (Aviation or related field)
• FAA CFI, CFII, and MEI
• 1,500 PIC hours
• 1,000 hours of instruction given
• 400 instrument instruction hours
• Minimum 2 years flight instructor experience
• Experience in Part 61 and Part 141 operations
• Experience as a Part 141 Check Instructor
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Current FAA medical and instructor currency


Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with FAA Training Course Outlines (TCOs)
• Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS)
• Advanced degree in aviation or related field
